The Alaska History Day contest is a virtual contest, welcoming participants from across the state. For full details, please see the contest guide.
Here’s the basics for how the contest works:
- Students compete in a local or regional contest. If there is no local contest in a student’s area, teachers/mentors may work with their students to submit directly to the state contest. See the most recent contest guide for the number of projects, or contact the coordinator.
- Regional winners advance to the state contest, optionally revising projects based on feedback at their local contest.
- Students who place first or second in their category in the state contest may advance to the National History Day national contest, with the opportunity to revise their project based on judge comments from the Alaska state contest.
